Epic Grandeur
5-Day Uganda Gorilla & Wildlife Safari is a tour of the famous Uganda National Parks like Bwindi Impenetrable & Queen Elizabeth National Park. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of the best Ecosystems in Africa located in the southwestern part of Uganda in Kanungu district bordering DRC and Rwanda. This park is best known for harboring half of the mountain gorillas that exist in the world today making it the best destination for gorilla trekking in Uganda and Africa at large.
Magnificent Queen Elizabeth
Queen Elizabeth National Park, the second largest park in Uganda is the most popular tourist destination in the country.
It has the widest variety of wildlife inhabiting a diverse ecosystem with open savannah grasslands, tropical forests, lakes, and wetlands.
It’s famous for having tree-climbing lions and is the best site for tracking lions in the country, as they are easier to spot here.
Lots of elephants and buffalo can be found in the savannah, and many hippos and birds along the Kazinga channel whereas different primates, such as chimpanzees inhabit its forests.
Queen Elizabeth lies in Western Uganda with the stunning snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains in the background and several craters carved into its rolling hills.
With it spanning the equator line, the area tends to have a warm temperature yearlong and has two wet seasons from March to May and August to December, characterized by heavy rainfall.
Day Game Drives
Game drives in Queen Elizabeth take place in the Ishasha sector where you can see the incredible tree-climbing lions, and in the Kasenyi plains where you can view a range of wildlife, such as elephants, the Uganda kobs, warthogs, and buffalos.
Lions, giraffes, and white rhinos are more localized but can be easily seen in specific areas. Leopards are less predictable as they are very elusive.
Birdwatching is a major highlight with over 1000 recorded species. Tracking primates, especially gorillas and chimpanzees, is also a key attraction, though many other species are worth observing.
The Ugandan Kob, an antelope found in most savannah reserves, is a favorite prey of lions.
Defying Extinction
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands as Uganda’s premier destination for tracking mountain gorillas.
This park is home to half of the world’s mountain gorillas – roughly 459 in total. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park sits in the Southwestern part of Uganda along the Albertine Rift Valley and on the border with DRC.
It has a hilly terrain covered with tropical rainforest, which along with this park’s closeness to the equator, causes it to have a wet climate throughout the year as it receives lots of rain, although it tends to rain less in June and July.
Tracking mountain gorillas in Bwindi’s rainforest is an exciting lifetime adventure that can have you trudging up and down hilly terrains and across streams to find the endangered primates.
This expedition may take an hour if you’re lucky or even last up to 8 hours, depending on where the gorillas are camping. The park safeguards approximately 40% of the world’s mountain gorilla population and features several habituated groups.
In addition to gorilla tracking, the park is also a bird-watcher’s paradise — with over 350 species recorded, including many endemics to the Albertine Rift.
Bwindi Impenetrable offers excellent gorilla trekking with almost guaranteed sightings of gorilla troops or families. It is unspoiled with a dense rainforest. The indigenous Batwa community experience, coupled with the Weitz safaris savvy tour guides, your gorilla trekking safari will come alive.

Arrival And Transfer To Bwindi National Park
On the 1st day of your 5 Days Uganda Primates & Wildlife Safari, you will be picked up from your hotel in Kampala or from Entebbe international airport or anywhere around Kampala City as communicated by your tour guide/driver and start the journey at around 8:00 am heading to Bwindi passing through the Kampala- masaka-mbarara- kabale road.
Igongo Cultural Center: Make a stop for lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre in Mbarara. Your driver will then drive you direct to Bwindi where you will check in at Buhoma haven lodge, freshen up, have your dinner and overnight.
Gorilla Trekking
Wake up at around 5:30am, enjoy your breakfast, pack your lunch box provided at your lodge then meet with your driver who will take you to the headquarters for a briefing before you start the journey to trek the mighty gorilla.
At exactly 8:00am, a trained game ranger will lead you through various trails in the thick blush and tall impenetrable forest in search of a habituated Gorilla family that is used to humans. This trail takes around 2-5hours depending on your speed and the location of the gorilla family.
Once a certain gorilla family is reached, you will be given only one hour with these primates interacting with them as you learn their behaviors such as feeding habits, breastfeeding, and copulation and many more.
Community Tour: After trekking, meet up with your driver who will take you back to the lodge, freshen up and go for a community encounter where you'll enjoy the Batwa community experience.
Transfer To Queen Elizabeth
Arise in the morning, have your breakfast served, check out of the lodge then meet up with your driver at around 8:00 am to start your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Along the way, your driver/guide will be explaining everything to expect in Queen Elizabeth national park. After a 3 – 4 hours’ drive, you will arrive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, check-in at park view hotel, enjoy your lunch, have a cool bath and Tree Climbing lions Experience.
Join your driver for tree climbing lions which are found in the southern part of the park in ishasha sector. You will see the lazy lions hanging in the tree branches as they hide away from the hot ground and the flies that bite them.
Evening Game Drive: After watching these lion’s, proceed for an evening game drive where you will spot some lions in the eastern parts of kasenyi plains and some Nocturnal mammals as they come out of their hideouts in search of food in the park. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Morning Game Drive And Evening Boat Cruise
Wake up at around 5:30 am, enjoy your breakfast and meet with your driver to start around 6:30am in Kasenyi plains where there is congestion of variety wildlife.
This drive offers greater opportunities for spotting the Nocturnal mammals before they return to their hideouts. Several herbivores such as buffalos, elephants, and Uganda kob will also be seen as they graze in the fresh green bushy grassland of kasenyi plains.
This game drive will take between 5-6hours. After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and warm up for an evening boat cruise on the Kazinga channel which is located in the Mweya Peninsular.
Evening boat cruise starts at 2:00 pm and you will be cruising on the Kazinga channel which is home to several Hippos.
Several herds of herbivores such as Buffalos, Uganda Kob, Elephants and many more are also seen along this channel as they quench their thirst. After the boat cruise, drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Chimpanzee Tracking And Transfer Back To Kampala/Entebbe
You will need to wake up early, prepare yourself, enjoy your breakfast, pack your lunch box, snacks and enough drinking water, then meet your driver who will drive you to the office for briefing on how to trek the chimpanzee. Then set off to begin the Chimpanzee trekking process in Kyambura Gorge.
The morning trek begins early so you will be in position to find the chimpanzees just waking up from their nests where they slept the previous night.
Kyambura gorge sector is best known for chimpanzee trekking. An armed tour guide will escort you deep in the thick gorge of savannah grassland in search of the habituated chimpanzees. Once a certain group is located, you will be given one hour in presence of these shy primates to learn more about their behaviors including feeding and mating.
After trekking, you will meet your driver who will return you to the lodge, you check out, and start your journey to Kampala.
