Thrilling Jinja
This city is about an hour away from Kampala- the capital city and is a must-visit for thrill-seekers while on a vacation in Uganda. It’s best to visit it during the dry months of December-March and June-October so that you can easily carry out adventurous activities on the Nile.
But because the area has a tropical climate like most of the country, it can rain in even the driest months as well as shine in the wet season, and the annual temperatures average 21.8°C /71.3°F. So, it’s possible to do all the fun water activities throughout the year in Jinja.

The Mighty Nile River
The mighty River Nile, the longest river in the world, which flows through 11 countries in the North and Eastern part of Africa has its source in Uganda.
The source of the Nile is found in Jinja – a city dubbed as the “adventure capital of East Africa” because of the various thrilling and adrenaline-pumping activities you can do on the Nile River and along its banks.
White Water Rafting
The grade 4 and 5 fierce rapids on the Nile offer a world-class and unforgettable rafting experience. You can choose between a half-day and a full-day expedition from reputable rafting companies that provide exciting cruises to all daredevils from first-timers to skilled rafters.
Â
Expert guides will train you on how to safely traverse the White Nile rapids before taking you on a 25 km ride on some of the best rapids you’ll encounter in the world that even Prince William conquered while on a visit to Uganda in 2003.
Bungee Jumping
You’ll get to jump 44 meters below from one of the most amazing bungee-jumping sites on the planet. And delight in touching the waters of R. Nile, the longest river in the world, if you so wish.
It’s possible to leap over the Nile with a loved one with a harness around you or go solo using an ankle tie as the tower cords can carry 235kgs of weight.
