QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Queen Elizabeth Park is one of the most famous game parks in Uganda. It is a savanna park which means that it is composed of grassland throughout all seasons.
Queen Elizabeth Park was named after Her Royal Majesty the Queen of England in respect of her legacy and contributions to the pearl of Africa. This is one of the reasons why it attracts many foreigners throughout the year.
Between 1970 and 1980, the Park was called Rwenzori National Park because of its proximity to the great ranges, however, that name changed to Queen Elizabeth to recognize the great British throne and its contribution to Uganda.
The great thing about Uganda’s national parks is that the vegetation within is always in bloom. This is second to having a wider variety of flora than you will ever find anywhere else in the world.
The park is a habitat for the diversity of flora, fauna, and scenery that is both appealing and daunting. This includes expansive deep water bodies, evergreen grasslands, expansive forests, and wetlands. All of these are habitats for the biggest variety of large mammals in the country.
